Being An Article Presented by Aare Babajide Oniyo, The President of Iseyin Youth Development Group, On the 1st Ever Youth Uniting Programme tagged: Our Iseyin Our Pride On the 2nd Day of Ileya, the 2nd Day of September, 2017 at the Aseyin of Iseyin’s Palace.
All honor, adorarions, sanctification are all due to the the nourisher of our lives, the giver and the taker of life, the Almighty Allah. We praise Him, May he accepts our thanks.
Iseyin Youth Development Group is a non-political, and non-religious group with paramount goals of righting our ancestral wrongs, embrace unity, despise greediness at all levels, help the helpless and to work together for the development of Iseyin, Our root. This group was founded on the 5th day of January, 2017 with her members throughout the nook and crannies of the nation and even beyond. The little aged group as it could be deduced from the date it was founded has tremendously pulled its weight by getting job for some members no matter how small, help some in securing I.T placement, had written series of letters to the Senate, House of Representatives and house of Assembly on the need for development, has constantly got in touch with the timber and calibre of people including his Royal highness on developmental issues, all within the short period of its creation.
Its so disheartening that Iseyin Local Government that is about the same size with 4 to 5 local governments in some states of the federation based on the land mass and population. The town that begets erudite scholars and elites amongst whom is the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki whose Grandmother is the daughter of the soil, to mention but a few number of timber and calibre of people, exists for years without a Higher institution of learning.
We have times without number fell prey to the hoodwinker politicians who promised us heaven and earth in respect to having a higher institution of learning but we got nothing eventually but a treacherous plan to even pay us in a bad coin. A very close sample is the Oyo state College of Agriculture now sitting in Igboora was initially slated for Iseyin, Federal Polutexhnic niw in Ede was initially slated for iseyin, Oyo state Technical University, now in Ibadan was initially penciled for iseyin, and the most appalling and embarrassing one is the former Polytechnic Ibadan saterlite campus which now metarmorphorsed to OKE Ogun polytechnic that should compensate for our loses and a solace on our marginalization, its now sitting comfortably in Saki.
Furthermore, Its unarguable that Iseyin is the 3rd largest town in Oyo state after Ibadan and Oyo with the duo housing many higher institutions and enormours investments including smaller villages having one or more institutions at the expense of Iseyin, the Biggest town in Oke-Ogun and Gateway to Oke-Ogun towns. Ikere George Dam which can sufficiently generate commercial watts of electricity is laying valueless untapped, people at the corridor of power will come, weep, cry and feel sorry inside papers, but as soon as they leave, nothing positive comes out of their visits. We have politicians and people at the corridor of power and they are saying nothing. Fellow indigenes, its time to wake up as coming generation might not forgive us if this persists.
The need to come together as one, retrace and realign our steps and move Iseyin to the promised land. If it takes little Igbajo as I use to say just coorperation to have a community initiative school without government interference, why can't iseyin which is 10times the size of Igbajo in land and populatio do the same and bring out the valour in us.
Its by the above ascertion we challenge the big wigs in the land, the timber and calibre of people in political offices and the entire inhabitants of this land to come to term and decide where we want to see Iseyin in the next 1 year.
Iseyin needs an Higher institution of learning
Booming business investments
Vocational training centre.
Tourist Centre.
During #GiveUsAUniversity, #IseyinIsBigEnough crusade, when I got conversing with people, I was made to know that we can't claim we are ready when we are not. If indeed we are, then we must on our own be willing to donate hectares of lands for anyone wiling to establish the school at first, we can take rebate later, we must say no to stomach infrastructures in our quest for development, knowing that we can't eat our cake and still have it. Having development and a filled stomach at the same time is tantamount to having a chilled room in hell. Some our people were seen demanding money for digging common community borehole, this is pathetic. We need a financial reservoir in Iseyin that we can help the State or Federal government with, if their reason for not establishing the institution is finance. We just need to be united and focus the same goal. Tasking every individual as infinitesimal as #200, quarterly, mosques and churches earmarking certain amount for the course every service, then donations from independent donours are not bad ideas.
Lastly, we are our own architect of fortune and misfortune, if we really need any development in Iseyin and in earnest, less shall we look unto politicians or any Government, we need to slap the challenges on the face, stand tall on our feet and start something new on our own.
Long live Iseyin,
Long live Oke Ogun,
Long live Oyo State,
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
