Ohun tó n be léyìn òfà, Ó jòje lo ~ A Congratulatory /Advisory Message to the Oyo state Governor Elect. His Excellency Oluseyi Makinde.
May I join the teeming good people of Oyo state to register my heartfelt congratulations to you sir, for the well contested race and for your emergence as the elected governor of the pace setter state. Without mincing words, it can only be God that has brought you this far amidst all odds. May He endow you with wisdom and understanding required of this portfolio and may He guide you aright throughout your days in office.
It is crystal clear that Oyo people have audibly spoken with their votes, and yes! It was widely heard even by the deaf. You must have been having some feel of relaxation. Nay! the time of relaxation is far ahead.
Your Excellency, your victory in the just concluded election is simply the manifestation of Oyo people's reaction towards your predecessor's junta mode of governance, his lackadaisical attitudes towards education system of the state and for the less attention paid to the welfarism of the civil servants and the pensioners. These should be firstly addressed as you take a walk into the Oyo State Government House come may 27th, 2019.
However, while I understand the fact that you must have also had your plans for the state as embedded in your manifestos, may I implore you to consolidate on the good part of predecessor's government. More is expected on the security of people's lifes and properties. Operation burst can be sustained or revamped, as you can't afford to give less if you can't do more.
Sir, you must also beep more light on the state's health sector. It must be ensured that common people have access to medical facilities at a cheaper cost. A committee should be set up to look into the mode of operation in the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan. Such that the supposed healing centre doesn't become a mortuary.
Furthermore, good infrastructure is also key and paramount to the development of every state. Do ensure same is not only concentrated in Ibadan, being the capital. But must extent to the nooks and crannies of the State. Having said this, it must be placed on record that Iseyin/ Ibadan and Oyo/Iseyin roads need a very urgent attention.
The integrity of a man does not only lie in his words, but his actions. Do remember your promises to address LAUTECH and the Oyo state Tertiary Institutions Issues. Don't forget your words for Oyo state workers and pensioners. Don't renege on your promise to site and establish a Higher institution of learning in Oke-Ogun. Don't forget your promise to run an all inclusive government. Oyo state Free Education from primary to secondary should be school reinvented as promised. Let there be a fulfilment of your promised facilitation of Ikere-George Dam's completion amongst many other.
On economy your Excellency, your good comportment as an individual, interpersonal relationship and the serenity of the state in terms of security, enabling environment and infrastructure are sure bankers to lure big investors to the state. Your administration is beseeched not to neither depend solely on the Federal Allocation nor inflicting suffering on the masses to run the government. You can conveniently diversify your income generating mechanism, by tapping the resources that are laying fallow: These include but not limited to Kaolin in Awaye of Iseyin L.G, Marble and dolomite in Igbeti, Olorunsogo L.G, Tantalite in Olodo Shaki East, Coloured Granite in Irawo of Atisbo L.G. etc.
In the quest of having a better Oyo state in terms of economy, infrastructure and employment opportunity, The likes of hanging lake of Awaye in Iseyin L.G , Igbo-Oba (Royal Forest) in Igboho, Old Oyo National Park in Oyo, Asabari Hill Shaki, Ikere George Dam, Samuel Ajayi Crowther's Place of Birth, Osoogun etc can be transformed into tourism centers. These can be relied on for the state's sustainability. The state can also do more on Agriculture by approving grants to subsistence farmers to metamorphose into mechanized farming. This will also add more feathers to the economy and the well being of the good people of our dear state.
In conclusion, I hope you will find this victory as a call to serve the good people of Oyo State, inherit the good uncompleted projects of your predecessor to ensure that no case of abandoned project is recorded, and you will do your best in respecting the mandate bestowed on you by the Almighty God, through the people of Oyo state.
