Arise! Oh ye FILGS.
Arise! Oh ye FILGS.
Gone are those days of active student Unionism, when students were major stakeholders in decision making. Those good days when student unionism commands respect and facilitate reversal of inhumane actions of constituted authorities. Blessed be the days when students worked wonders in ensuring development in all ramifications, no matter how difficult it is to enable same.
Dear FILGS, Where is thy strength?
The supposed student body expected to be so ebullient and active in waking up authorities and stakeholders from their slumbers, are also seemingly fast asleep. I can't recollect when last a programme, a peaceful protest or a round table discuss is organised in respect to our space's development. Institutions of higher learning were penciled down for Iseyin and were eventually diverted to other axis, no one said nothing. Aso Oke international market and tourist centre was also initiated by a grand ceremony, which has so far being repeated twice with nothing to show except a mere cacophonic promises and bushy land. Alas! No one is reacting. Our youths, most especially FILGS, which is the embodiment of students representation are there, doing nothing in this regard and perhaps paying their allegiance to parochial politicians.
I have a believe that the United power of Student's Unionism in FILGS can be rejuvenated and same could be leveraged upon to join hands with other developmental organisations of Iseyin land and diaspora in ensuring our land becomes better. I have been a very good friend of FILGS for years, but where they err, we scold, reprove and correct. All in the spirit of oneness, brotherhood and love for our jointly owned Origin.
Let the versatility be revived! We are better together, and the more we are, the stronger and happier we shall always be. May the Almighty Allah bless our land.

This piece got debuted in 2017 and less or nothing has been done to correct the inefficiencies. I hope the newly elected Executive under the watch of their National President, Lawal Sodiq Dammacus will work to revamp the partially dilapidated home of FILGS.
It can always get better.
