An Open letter to the Chairman, Iseyin Weavers Association, Iseyin.
Dear Sir,
RE: IF WE DON'T PEG IT, WE MAY LOSE IT.
May I start this by applauding your humble self and every member of your cabinet for organizing the 1st and 2nd Ofi day, which eventually caught the attention of the state government and thus gave birth to the establishment of Aso-Oke international market and Tourist centre, on our own soil. This is indeed applaudable!
How great would this have been, if you actually consolidate so firmly on the recorded landmark? Not only that the proposed market would have been materialized but would have also changed the face of our dear city, added to her economy valour, ushered in more investors of different brand and alas! Would have also added more feathers to the crown of your own led Association, ' The Aso-Oke weavers.
Apologies to Benjamin Franklin who said and I quote, that "Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn". It's assumed that not everyone knows the value of this opportunity, and that begets my articles barely a year ago titled, "If we don't peg it, we may loose it" and "Silence, an unsuspected killer" where I highlighted all we need to do to chain the market and give the government a serious convincement to promptly put up the structures.
You will agree with me sir, that it's thought provoking, having an opportunity of that magnitude barely a year ago, and nothing is done to seize the opportunity by turning its challenges into chances, rather than waiting endlessly for the government to put up the structure as promised. If this persists, it could be likened to expecting cold room in hell.
It may also interest you that I have met with the Erstwhile Caretaker Chairman who is also the Incumbent Executive Chairman of Iseyin Local Government on the same subject, who promised his support in that regard. The question now is, what modalities have you put in place as the major stakeholder to receive such solicited kind gesture?
Let it be reiterated that Ero -Ibadan or Ero Ede should henceforth be discontinued, let's put up some stalls and play a host to umpteen patronizers of our dear valued Aso-Oke and not vice versa. It is also advised that you set modalities in motion as soonest as possible, be on the Executive Chairman for Assistance where necessary, and he shall be willing to help.
Lastly, it is my believe you will not allow this to also disappear like a mirage , just like a host of other capital intensive projects previously penciled for Iseyin did, as a result of our lackadaisical attitudes towards issues that require prompt attention and our choice of being reactive over being proactive.
Thanks as I trust you will maturely digest this and do the needful for the sake our origin, while believing in the science of posterity.
